Bandi Mbubi

Executive Director

Bandi Mbubi founded and led Congo Calling (2012–2022), a decade-long campaign to end the illicit trade of conflict minerals and to promote technologies that benefit both consumers and producers. In addition, he serves as a Non-Executive Director of the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, where he is Chair of the People, Culture and Communities Committee, supporting one of the UK’s leading mental health service providers.

Across his career, Bandi has successfully led value-based organisations addressing homelessness, poverty, mental and physical ill-health, inequality, gross human rights abuses, and corruption in Europe and Africa. A prominent voice in the NGO sector, he has forged productive partnerships with public, private, and civil society colleagues, always grounded in the needs and aspirations of communities.

Bandi’s contributions have been recognised through his appointment as a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers, his award of the Freedom of the City of London, and his inclusion as one of the BBC’s Top 50 Inspirations in 2016.

With 25 years of senior leadership experience at the intersection of human rights and social justice, Bandi Mbubi currently serves as the FCA’s Executive Director. In this role, he works with industry, civil society, and local partners to promote responsible sourcing, improve livelihoods, and tackle child labour and unsafe practices in artisanal mining.
